ALIENDAY: Emergence . Afro future . Origin  conceives civilization’s global re-emergence from COVID-19 quarantine as if we are the earth’s aliens grudgingly compelled to return to our home planet. Clearly we and the earth have been changed. The epic loss of life. The post traumatic stress induced by the fact of sweeping, imminent death and debilitation. The loss of sense and control. World governments and their apocalyptic failures. The virtual collapse of local economies, and public health infrastructures everywhere.  Here we are! Us and the Earth and the ecological opportunity and consequence posed by man’s retreat. What will we do with the wild planet that we had all been so certain belonged to us? Can we survive the contagion of this global psychic break into the vagaries of delusion and conspiracy to cohere a new world, a new Earth we can all live in? 

On ALIENDAY our new appreciation for water pushes us up against the oldest truth. Without the waters we have nothing. All those ships and containers a quarantine pushed on pause threw up a fear into the zeitgeist too many of the world’’s humans otherwise know too well.  The food, the help, the materiel, the compassion, may not come in time, may not move soon enough, to save us. But this time the aliens have returned, hoping, praying, calling, channeling, moving, laboring with the spirits of the sea to make a new way for us in the Afrofuture of a post-2020 Origin story.
